Every November, you’ll find me proudly wearing a poppy. It’s a reminder of sacrifices that should never be forgotten. For me, the Poppy Appeal is deeply personal.
I’ve been fortunate in my career to meet men and women who’ve served on the front lines, putting their lives on the line for something greater than themselves. I’ve listened to their stories, some harrowing, some hopeful and I’ve seen the physical and emotional scars they carry. The Poppy Appeal is about honouring them and ensuring they get the support they deserve.
Every year, I get involved because I believe in what the Royal British Legion does. The funds raised go towards helping veterans and their families, whether they need mental health support, financial assistance, or simply someone to talk to.
The poppy is also a tribute to those who didn’t come home. It’s a way of saying, “We remember you. We’re grateful for what you gave.”
This isn’t just about history, it’s about now. It’s about ensuring that every veteran, from those who served in the trenches to those returning from modern conflicts, knows they’re not forgotten.
Lest we forget.
